Pal-AHK is a synthetic peptide in which AHK has been linked to a palmitoyl fatty acid molecule. The fatty acid makes AHK more fat soluble, which not only increases its skin penetration, but actually increases the absorption of the molecule by cells. Once in the cell, Pal-GHK is thought to activate fibroblasts by stimulating TGF-1.

Pal-AHK can activate fibroblasts and thus increase the rate of extracellular matrix (ECM) production in the skin. The ECM is composed of a number of molecules, with collagen and elastin being the most abundant in many cases. By boosting ECM production, Pal-AHK increases collagen and elastin levels within the skin. This, in turn, improves skin appearance and strength.

There is also some evidence, from benchtop experiments, that pal-AHK can influence the production of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). VEGF is a important signaling molecule in the production of new blood vessels. By encouraging blood vessel growth in the skin, Pal-AHK has demonstrated increased skin rejuvenation and hair growth in animal models.
